Website Integrated Lesson Plan



Topic      : Football
Level      : Intermediate
Theme    : Sports
Time       : 70 minutes (two-period class)

General Objectives:
To enable the students to utilize a computer in their English learning.

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
1. Understand the paragraph shown in the visited website;
2. Extrapolate the information in the paragraph shown in the website;
3. Choose the correct answer based on the given paragraph.

Previous Knowledge:
The students have learned on how to use the Internet browser on a computer.

Educational Emphasis:
1. ICT skills.
2. Comprehension skill.

Technical Requirements:
1. A computer lab equipped with functional computers for each student.
2. An Internet connection.
3. A technician on standby in case of technical problems.

Precaution:
Make sure that the shortcuts to the exercise website is placed on the desktop in case of accidental closing of the website.

Language Content:
1. Reading Comprehension Skills.
      i. Identifying main ideas
     ii. Drawing conclusions
    iii. Figurative language
   iiii. Vocabulary in context

Procedure:

1. Set Induction
- The teacher will greet the students by asking several questions on what they did in their last class.
- The teacher then will recapitulate the last lesson in order to refresh the students' memory.

2. Development:

(Activity 1)
- The teacher will instruct the students to open the first website shortcut named Tips on Answering a Comprehension Test that is on the desktop.
- After all of the students have opened their first website, the teacher will then briefly explain the contents of the website which are the tips on how to answer a comprehension test.
- The teacher then will ask the students to read the contents on their own for 10 minutes while monitoring the students should there be any problem.
- After the students are done with their reading, the teacher will briefly highlight each important tip and also provide the meanings for several words that are thought to be difficult to understand.
- The teacher will conclude the first activity by asking the students if there is any question about the first website.

(Activity 2)
- Before proceeding to the second activity, the teacher will explain to the students that all of them will be answering a reading comprehension exercise online.
- Then, the teacher will inform the students about the time allocation given to read the article about sports (football), answer the worksheet, how to choose the answer together with an instruction that the students may discuss their answer in pairs.
-  The teacher will then instruct the students to open the second website shortcut named Benitez Stands Firm Amid Fan Criticism that is also on the desktop.
- The students will start answering the exercise while the teacher will monitor the class for any problems.

(Activity 3)
- After finding out about each of the student's mark and grade, the teacher will pick several random students to read each of the paragraph on the website.
- After that, the teacher will then discuss the answer with the students and make some corrections should the students make any mistake.
- The teacher will then answer any questions posed by the students, if any.

Conclusion:
- The teacher will recapitulate on what have they learned today.
- The teacher will also provide some extra information about the other English-Learning websites that can be used in order to enhance the students' knowledge.

Follow-up Activity:
- The teacher will give each student a hand-out of another comprehension exercise as a homework for the students to answer at home.
